Belrampur House

Belrampur House located in the Kumaon Hills of Nainital, is an ideal place to escape the heat of the Indian summer. Built during the British era for the Maharaja of Belrampur, it has been converted to a Hotel but still has an ambiance of a royal residence. It’s lush green lawns with old horse-chestnut trees and a good variety of colorful flowers make it the perfect place to relax away from the bustle of the streets below.

During our stay in Nainital in the summer of 2003 we would often visit with the children and allow them to run around the lawns. One particular day the low clouds gave some interesting contrast to the green foliage and I managed to get some good shots with my Sony Cybershot camera.

Here you can see the horse-chestnut trees which break up the even spread of the lawns giving suitable shade when the sun is at its strongest.
