Ha Long Bay

Ha Long Bay is located in the Quang Ninh Province, North East of Vietnam – a magnificent magical destination of outstanding beauty, abundant in color and spectacular scenery. Any search on the Internet for Ha Long Bay will result in pages and pages of  stunning images of the unique landscapes. In any tourist brochure on Vietnam you will most definitely come across the stunning Ha Long Bay and without doubt you would be mad not to plan at least one day on a boat exploring the islands.

Looking back on our visit to Ha Long Bay, I can’t help but feel a little disappointment. Not of the landscape, nor for the serenity, not from the overwhelming beauty but just because of the weather. I am sure you can appreciate as a group of photographers we were going there primarily for the pictures. The overnight stay on Ha Long Bay in a boat was to be one of the highlights of the week. I am sure if you were to research the best time of year to visit Ha Long Bay, it would not have been August with its overcast skies and misty horizons, so I guess the weather was to be expected. None the less our time was outstanding, totally relaxing and enjoyable.

I will cherish the memory of sleeping on the deck of the boat where the only sound was the thousands of insects on the surrounding islands. Well that is until it started to rain.

Luckily we had a chance to get some sky early in the morning around 7am before the sun reached the clouds.
