Temple of Literature

Continuing on the photography journey to Vietnam this post is about our visit to Van Mieu-Quoc Tu Giam, also known as The Temple of Literature. It is located south of the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum in central Hanoi.

The Temple of Literature is a worthwhile stop for any photographer or traveler with its peaceful gardens and a historically important temple being the first university of Vietnam in 1070.

Our visit to the Temple of Literature was our first stop on the week-long expedition so there was a feeling of expectation or maybe an unspoken ‘pressure’ immediately create a photographic work of art. As with many similar situations in the past, such as visiting the Taj Mahal in India or the Trevi Fountain, in Rome, my goal would be to take a photo of the buildings without any people to spoil the view. Especially tourists!! Even with such a relatively small area within the Temple area, it seemed impossible to get a clean shot just capturing the gardens and architecture.
